About LeRonne
LeRonne Armstrong is a proud West Oakland native dedicated to public service.
As Oakland’s Chief of Police, LeRonne managed the largest city department with 1,100 employees and a budget of over $300 million. He fought against drastic cuts to the department and overcame challenges caused by the COVID pandemic.
Armstrong’s impact on Oakland has been profound. His unwavering commitment to the Oakland community have proven him to be an effective leader with the experience to serve his hometown as the next Councilmember At-Large.
Why
I Am Running
I’m tired of watching the city fall apart, we need people in this city working to right this ship, not who are afraid to tell it like it is.
We need to address the homeless crisis, increase housing affordability, and stop rampant crime. Oakland needs leadership that is willing to take action on the issues even if it is unpopular and angers certain groups with the ear of city hall but who are looking out for you.
That is why I am running so that the people will have a voice again.
The Oakland that raised me is spiraling downward and repeated calls from residents expressing their frustration with status-quo politicians motivated me to continue to serve the city I know and love.
Why
Support Me
I bring proven leadership and unmatched experience to the City Council At-Large position.
From West Oakland to the Oakland hills to Fruitvale and the East Oakland flatlands no one in this race knows Oakland like I do. I am the only person in this race that has implemented city policies and had to make tough budget decisions.
I have the knowledge and ability to turn this city in the right direction. As your Chief you counted on me to keep you safe and you can count on me to bring that same dedication to the City Council.
